|Season 1 (2001/2002)
Before Clark Kent became a full-fledged superhero, he was an awkward teenager. But unlike most teenagers, this Clark has bigger issues to contend with, like the mysterious powers that he possesses, his tumultuous relationship with kryptonite, and the strangely demonic happenings that have tormented Smallville ever since a meteor shower rained down upon the small Kansas town twelve years before. As Clark struggles through his high schools days, lusting after the beautiful Lana Lang and forming a strong friendship with Lex Luthor, he must gradually come to terms with the knowledge that he might be a truly super human.
|Season 2 (2002/2003)
Clark’s inability to overpower destiny and its pressing call for his return home. Clark, who has left Smallville for Metropolis, returns to Smallville to help his parents, who are desperately trying to save their cash-strapped farm and is happily surprised to find that Lex Luthor has survived a deadly jet crash. Lex and Clark’s ill-fated camaraderie is strengthened by this miracle but causes tension in the close-knit Kent family, as Jonathan fears that Lex will emulate Lionel and his unscrupulous ways, even while Lex has tried to establish his own identity.
|Season 3 (2003/2004)
Clark’s embracing of his dark side…and the devil’s bargain Jonathan makes with Jor-El to rescue his son. Perry White and villainous Morgan Edge debut in the series. Clark hones a sensational new power. Chloe lets slip an intriguing reference to someone named Lois Lane. And the secret of Clark’s true identity burdens Pete, obsesses Lex and drives a wedge between Lana and Clark. The challenges of today shape tomorrow as never before on “Smallville.
|Season 4 (2004/2005)
The young Clark Kent once again attempts to balance his high school life with the superpowers he was equipped with at birth. The season begins with Lois Lane turning up in Smallville to investigate the death of her cousin. In a neat touch, Margot Kidder, who plays Lois in the Christopher Reeve-era SUPERMAN movies, makes an appearance in the first episode. Meanwhile, Lana has picked up a new boyfriend in Paris, Lex has got his hands on a kryptonian crystal in Egypt, and Lionel (John Glover) sets a mutant on the trail of Chloe to determine whether she is dead or not.
|Season 5 (2005/2006)
The quest for 3 Kryptonian crystals and Clark’s bold attempt to keep those mysterious stones from destroying Earth. Clark also becomes a highly recruited football star. Lana gets a boyfriend. Lois Lane smart, opinionated and entirely annoying to Clark comes to Smallville. Chloe learns the scoop of the century. Lionel becomes a straight-up nice guy. Lex steps further from the light into darkness. New characters (Krypto, Mr. Mxyzptlk) and a new power emerge. The calling awaits Clark an awakening to a destiny that only he can accept and fulfill. And will Clark survive the fight with Zod.
|Season 6 (2006/2007)
Clark survives the fight General Zod, Jimmy Olsen joins the Daily Planet and we see he has a thing for Chloe, Clark develops a new power, the prisoners that escaped The Phantom Zone reek havoc for Clark and the world, the Green Arrow / Oliver Queen has arrived and we see the forming of the “Justice League”. And we get our first glimps at the Martian Man Hunter.
|Season 7 (2007/2008)
Clark Kent meets his biological cousin Kara, and teaches her how to control her abilities in public; Lana Lang’s behavior toward her friends, and Lex Luthor, after it is discovered that she faked her own death; Chloe coming to terms with her newly discovered kryptonite-induced ability; and the secret of the Daily Planet’s new editor Grant Gabriel. Clark faces the dual threat from returning villain Brainiac, and Lex’s discovery of his father’s secret society who possess the means to control Clark.
|Season 8 (2008/2009)
As Clark Kent starts his job at the Daily Planet, begins to accept more of his destiny as Earth’s hero, and develops romantic feelings for Lois Lane. While Lex Luthor is presumed dead, and Lana Lang has left Smallville for good, Clark also meets new characters Davis Bloome, Smallville’s interpretation of Doomsday, as well as the new CEO of LuthorCorp, Tess Mercer. In other storylines, Clark and Oliver Queen clash over how to handle Lex when he resurfaces, while Chloe Sullivan and Jimmy Olsen take their relationship to the next level. In addition, this season sees the appearance of more DC Comics characters, including recurring appearances from Plastique and members of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
|Season 9 (2010)
Clark takes his superhero persona into obsessive territory when he leaves behind those he cares for so that he can focus solely on Jor-El’s training. In order to accomplish this, Clark wears a new costume that sports his family crest on the chest. The theme of the season is about Clark finally embracing his alien heritage, while also being his darkest hour thus far. As a result, Clark’s relationship with Chloe and Oliver suffered this season. Season nine also saw the introduction of more DC Comics characters, including multiple episode appearances for the Justice Society of America, villain Metallo, and villainess Agent Amanda Waller.
|Season 10 (2010/2011)
The final season of the series, season ten continues the romance first developed between Clark Kent and Lois Lane in season nine, as well as the continuation of Clark’s trials, and the forging of his superhero identity “Superman”.
