Panic Attack

Sam Raimi’s Version of ‘District 9’ Type Movie

Panic AttackTwo weeks ago we posted a five-minute short called “Panic Attack” that was put together by a commercial director and FX specialist Fede Alvarez. The short video shows the Earth being ruthlessly attacked by giant robots that came out of the fog. The video is impressive to say the least and you can view it below.

Well now it looks like Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) was also impressed with Alvarez’s “Panic” that he decided to sign him up to develop a new sci-fi film that will carry the tittle “There will be Robots.” Alvarez confirmed this, adding that the movie will have a budget somewhere between $30 to $40 million.

Why Genre Shows are Dying! Part 1

TV viewingI just finished reading a article by Michael Hinman over at SyFy Portal, oh my bad, that's Airlock Alpha these days since I guess he sold out to the suits at SyFy Channel, which use to be the SciFi Channel, but I'll get into that another time. Anywho, the article was about Sci-Fi shows taking a beating in the ratings and was spouting on and on about last year ratings compared to this years ratings, and about shows being cancelled like  "Knight Rider" that was on NBC, "Pushing Daisies" that was on ABC, and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" that was on Fox, and that if something doesn't change we are going to lose more shows. Guess what folks, the reason we are losing so many shows is that most of them suck!! Read on to find out why.

Decade Biggest Flops, ‘Pluto Nash’ Tops the List

Pluto NashWell for years I have ranted on movies that just sucked and should have never seen the light of day, well it seems I'm not alone according to a industry poll. The sad part is most of the movies on the list are genres we cover (which is a lot) like science fiction, comic-book based, fantasy, and thriller/horror. I really thought that John Travolta's "Battlefield Earth" or Ben Affleck's "Gigli" would have been at the top of the list, but according to the poll, Eddie Murphy's "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" has the honor of being named the biggest flop of the decade for 2000-2010.

Is Smallville getting Green Lantern and Sandman?

Doctor FateY’all can just go ahead and slap me, I was so busy drooling over Smallville’s Lois Lane (Erica Durance) that I totally forgot to post the trailer and the article about the storyline trailer that is leading up to the upcoming Smallville two hour movie. Anywho here is the gist of it; last week was the last new episode of the year for Smallville, and it ended with a trailer for upcoming episodes that just so happened to reveal some very well known characters from the comic-book world that we’ll be meeting down the line. You can check it out below.
