Why Genre Shows are Dying! Part 1

TV viewingI just finished reading a article by Michael Hinman over at SyFy Portal, oh my bad, that's Airlock Alpha these days since I guess he sold out to the suits at SyFy Channel, which use to be the SciFi Channel, but I'll get into that another time. Anywho, the article was about Sci-Fi shows taking a beating in the ratings and was spouting on and on about last year ratings compared to this years ratings, and about shows being cancelled like  "Knight Rider" that was on NBC, "Pushing Daisies" that was on ABC, and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" that was on Fox, and that if something doesn't change we are going to lose more shows. Guess what folks, the reason we are losing so many shows is that most of them suck!! Read on to find out why.

This from the guy who just made the leading man list after decades in Hollywood. See what Downey has to say.

Independence Day Poster

Independence Day PosterRoland Emmerich revealed that he was planning to make a sequel to "Independence Day," about a month ago. The first movie starring Will Smith was a major blockbuster that grossed over $800 million in worldwide ticket sales and is still a favorite today amongst most of us Sci-Fi fans.

Fright Night

Fright Night Remake gets Buffy Writer

Fright NightWe knew back in May that DreamWorks was working on a deal with Screen Gems to get the rights to "Fright Night," with the intent to remake the movie. Well we now have some new info and good news that shows that this project is moving ahead as word that "Mad Men" writer/producer Marti Noxon has been hired to write the script. Noxon is no newbie to vampires as she previously written and produced for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" TV series.

Dollhouse Cancelled

Dollhouse gets the Axe!

Dollhouse CancelledFinally 20th Century Fox TV has pulled it's head out of it's ass and announced that it has cancelled the Joss Whedon drama "Dollhouse," like we all didn't know that this was inevitable. Truth be told this show sucked in just about every aspect of a TV series. The writing was on the wall when the network pulled the show from its Friday slot during November sweeps, but the show was still scheduled to come back December 4th with Summer Glau joining the cast.

Battleship

Battleship Fighting Aliens?

BattleshipOK, just when I think Sci-Fi movies are beginning to get back on track this latest rumor just took me back twenty steps. Let's get you up to speed before we  torpedo your ass back to numbness and the abyss. Peter Berg has been pushing forward with his "Battleship" movie, which is based on the very popular board game. Supposedly  it's  "a contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle."
