The Hobbit to Begin Filming in June

Well even though MGM is going through financial wow’s and will eventually be sold, a lot of its properties and projects are still moving ahead even though they don’t have a greenlight.

Remake of RoboCop is on Hold

We have been hearing for years that there is going to be a RoboCop remake, they even got Darren Aronofsky to sign on for the project, but there has been very little movement on the project. To me it actually seems to that Aronofsky is not too keen about bringing the character back to the big screen. Also another reason why Robocop hasn’t made any progress is because of MGM’s financial wow’s.

New ‘Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief’ Posters

We have six new character posters for Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief starring Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakaredes, and directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter 1&2). That is a bit of a mouth full on that title don’t you think? Anywho, what I have seen so far (and these posters aren’t helping) it seems this movie is coming straight out of the Cheese Factory. I guess we will be finding out soon enough on this film.

New Nightmare on Elm Street the Remake Footage

Here is a good one for all you Freddy Krueger fans, on The Final Destination Blu-ray DVD, you’ll find a behind-the-scenes look at the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, featuring lots of new footage from the movie. You can check it out in the video below.

Death Race Prequel Gets Luke Goss

It was revealed back in November that Universal Pictures had greenlit the prequel to Paul WS Anderson’s Death Race, which will be based on a Tony Giglio (Chaos) script. The new movie is said to be a prequel and look into the past of the mangled driver known as Frankenstein, who was original played by the late David Carradine in the 1975 film Death Race 2000 and voiced by Carradine in Anderson’s recent Death Race.

Back to the Future Trilogy coming to Blue-ray

Listen up you Back to the Future fans, here is what you have been waiting for, the Back to the Future trilogy is coming to Blu-ray, and now it seems that a five-disc version will hit stores sometime in July.

The Thing Prequel to Get Underway in March

Lately I had started thinking that The Thing prequel had been buried due to no info being put out, but low and behold a Twitter posting by Production Weekly suggests that the shoot will commence this March. According to their post, “Universal’s prequel to John Carpenter’s classic thriller The Thing is due to begin filming March and continue till June in Toronto.”

Avatar Banks Over a Billion and Still Going Strong

James Cameron is sitting on top of the World, with the writer-director’s sci-fi hit Avatar reaching a global box office total of $1.02 billion over the weekend. Avatar has become the fifth film in history to reach the billion dollar mark, after Titanic ($1.8 billion), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.12 billion) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($1.07 billion) and The Dark Knight ($1 billion).
