TRANSFORMERS movie review

(Well, if we’re going to be perfectly honest here, I guess I’ll have to admit that I really DID scream a time or two!)

I think Michael Bay did a fantastic job with this film. The robots looked as real as Mack-trucks-turned-bi-pedal possibly could. The storyline explained not only their arrival on Earth, but their continued presence as well, AND why they were fighting both us and each other. The explosions were big, the girl was hot, the robots were awesome, and the previously fluffy little Shia LeBeouf has a future as a sex symbol. (Hey, I gotta call ’em as I see ’em.)

I could definitely see why the film nearly earned an R-rating, but I also think it has been suitably cleaned up so feel free to take the kiddies. Just don’t send them off to see it without you – because believe me you want to watch it too!! As a big-time fan of the 80’s cartoon, I have to admit that I am really impressed with the respect that was shown to the original series in this film. And even more impressed that it was realistically taken from cartoon to real-life. If you’re looking for a movie to nit-pick, the truth is there’s plenty of minor details that got overlooked (not the least of which was a man walking away from a high-speed motorcycle crash that would have eaten the butt-cheeks right off of any human. Maybe he’s a toaster??) But if you want exactly what we’ve all been promised in the commercials – action, drama, thrills, explosions, and massive robots that turn into hot cars – get in line and pay your money for the film that gets my vote as the best of the year. Can I stick up all my fingers instead of just my thumbs for this one??
